Izzy Coombs

Izzy Coombs (B.2000) is an illustrator from a little Welsh village nestled away in the Swansea Valley countryside. She is currently in the midst of completing her Bachelor of Arts in Illustration at UWTSD. Izzy’s work draws inspiration from nature and animals, with humorous and surrealist undertones she enjoys personifying animal characters and developing bizarre narratives.

Her love of humour and nonsense is reflected in her storytelling celebrating the idiosyncrasies of the natural world. She is inspired by the great nonsense illustrators , Edward Lear and Quentin Blake emulating the same style of playfulness. Izzy oeuvre is characterised by her lively linework and a muted colour palette, she enjoys combining a hand drawn look from her traditional roots of pencil and paint within a digital format developing a dialogue between the two.

At present Izzy is working on a few different projects, she has started a new series of illustrations for prints and greeting cards titled ‘Bitchy Pigeons’ and capturing sunsets of the Welsh countryside through watercolour paintings.
